Austarc 16TC Hydrogen Controlled Welding Electrodes (E7016 / E4916)

Achieve exceptional arc stability and flawless, high-quality welds with Austarc 16TC Hydrogen Controlled Electrodes. These smooth-running, basic low-hydrogen (E7016 / E4916) rods are developed for demanding all-positional (except vertical down) welding using either AC or DC power sources.

The 16TC's superior performance comes from a unique twin-coating extrusion process, which concentrates all arc-stabilizing elements in the inner coating. This delivers a significantly more stable arc, easier control, and reliable, high-quality deposits with notch toughness certified down to -40°C.

Key Features & Benefits

Exceptional Arc Stability: The advanced twin-coating technology ensures a smooth, focused, and easy-to-control arc.
All-Positional Versatility: Ideal for all positions (except vertical down), with outstanding performance in vertical-up applications.
Superior Low-Temp Toughness: Delivers reliable impact values (CVN 110J) even at temperatures down to -40°C.
Easy to Use: Features easy strike and re-strike capabilities, performing smoothly even on low open-circuit voltage (OCV) AC welding machines.
High-Quality Deposits: Produces strong, reliable welds with 560 MPa tensile strength.

Common Applications

Critical Structural Steel: Perfect for AS/NZS 3678, AS 1163 (C250-C450), and fine-grain steels.
Pipe Welding: Suitable for API 5LX grades (X42, X46, X52, X60).
Low-Temperature Applications: Ideal for sub-zero temperature environments where toughness is critical.
Demanding Welds: Use for highly restrained joints, single-sided weld joints, and pressure equipment steel (AS 1548).
Maintenance & Repair: An excellent choice for general maintenance, buffer layers prior to hard surfacing, and build-up applications.
